I’m a film & video editor in Los Angeles, CA who loves to cook badass plant-based meals, shoot photography, write, rock climb & travel the world. I started ‘created by k.g’ as a way to share my recipes, art, videos & photography in one space.
I learned how to cook from my mother at a young age and I’ve always been her sous-chef. She is an amazing cook and I’m not just saying that because she’s my mom- she placed top 5 nationwide in Good Morning America’s pie contest by Emeril Lagasse and she was also a finalist in the 2014 Pillsbury Bake-Off. Basically she’s the best cooking teacher a girl could ask for. I started cooking plant-based (vegan) dishes in college when I decided to forgo meat and had no idea what the heck to eat (this is before vegan cheese was a ‘thing’). Throughout the past decade I have fallen head over sneakers in love with plant-based cooking & I’ve made it my mission to teach people how fun & easy it can be.
TRAVEL & ADVENTURE
I am a self-proclaimed travel junkie and I grew up wanting to explore the world- my dad traveled a lot all around the world for work and I was always curious about where he was going. Growing up, we went on family vacations (usually camping in MI and to Mexico/the Caribbean) and I fell in love with traveling to new places. To this day, every time I’m exploring a little market in a new culture, my heart fills with joy. Sitting at a cafe enjoying the local food? Simply amazing. I feel like my entire life I have been constantly in a state of wanderlust. About 8 years ago, I made it a personal goal to try to leave the country every year to explore someplace new. At first it was just a little idea in the back of my head, but as my love for travel and exploring the world became stronger, so did this idea. I used to think “maybe I’ll just quit everything and travel the world!” But lets get real here- that’s not really an option for me. I also love my job and I love what I do, I would never, ever want to give that up. Life is all about balance. So instead, I work hard on my career and use my vacation time & weekends to explore new places. Some girls spend their money on $1,000 shoes. I’d prefer to spend mine on a $1,000 plane ticket…
